Australia is experiencing a surge in unemployment, but business owners are currently struggling to recruit new workers due to the government’s generous handouts says Sky News host Peter Gleeson.
Mr Gleeson said for many Australians, the coronavirus pandemic has been a nightmare and a “living hell” for people who’ve lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet.
However, for a big group out there, they’ve “never had it better,” he said.
He said there are Aussies who are getting JobKeeper right now but are working for “cashies” on the side.
“Business owners are now struggling to recruit staff because of the generous measures”.
He said if JobKeeper is to be extended beyond September, it should only go to those who “clearly, unequivocally demonstrate a need”.
